Dialogue and Notturno | for Flute and Piano |
|
Dialogue--recipient of Honorable Mention at Finals
in the NFA Newly-Published Music Competition 2000
Notturno may be effectively performed either on the clarinet or flute. An expressive work of medium difficulty and written to idiomatically suit the musical qualities of both instruments, it offers the performer ample opportunity for display of musicianship.
Dialogue and Notturno are written as companion pieces, in a lyrical style that combines the melodic expressiveness of the flute with a variety of tonal and clustered sonorities in the piano. Both works are neo-romantic and multi-sectional with varying textures and musical content. A captivating interplay between the flute and piano is the primary compositional characteristic of these works.
