Recent Performances, Awards and Activities
Spring 2008
- Hosted the first annual Northeastern
Trumpet Festival at NSU
in February. The ITG news story covering this
event can be found here.
- Traveling to Bowling Green, Ohio to present a
recital/master class at Bowling Green State University,
as a guest of Charles Saenz.
- Guest soloist on two pieces on the Broken Arrow
Trumpet Choir concert in March
- Numerous performance with regional orchestras
Fall 2007
It has been a busy semester at Northeastern!
Major highlights for the fall include:
- Successfully defending doctoral dissertation on October
22, completing all requirements for the DMA degree in
trumpet performance at the University of North Texas
- Hosting Southeastern Louisiana University trumpet
instructor Logan Place as a guest artist at NSU in
November
- Guest recitals and master classes at numerous high
schools throughout Oklahoma
- Completion of most of the plans for the 2008
Northeastern Trumpet Festival, to be held at NSU in
Tahlequah, Oklahoma
Summer 2007
Jason Dovel is pleased to announced he will be
relocating to the Tulsa area, as has accepted a faculty
position at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah,
Oklahoma.
Other highlights of Summer 2007:
- Recording a CD for Naxos Records with the Lone Star Wind
Orchestra
- Traveling to Crested Butte, Colorado, to perform as
principal cornet of the Crested Butte All-Star Brass
Band in July
- North Texas Conductors' Collegium in July
- Recording for GIA Publications with
the North Texas Wind Symphony
Spring 2007
Major highlights of the Spring '07 semester include:
- Performing with the Dallas Opera in productions of La
Rondine, Maria
Stuarda, Bluebeard's Castle, and Lohengrin
- Performing solo recitals at North Central Texas
College (Feb. 14) and the University of North Texas
(Feb. 26)
- Competing at the National Trumpet Competition in
the modern solo (Master's) division as well as the
historic solo (Fantini) division.
- Recording sessions with the North Texas Wind
Symphony
