The Pope
Artist James August Warsing Jr. traveled to Europe to teach cosmetic
work in Germany. He etched a portrait of the Holy Father Pope John Paul II on a black
glass 18" by 24". This glass was sandblasted and made in 1985 only one of a
kind, and sold to a member of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harrisonburg,
Virginia. The glass etching of the Pope was hanging in the church for eight years.
Recently, James asked to take the etching to Europe. James and his 11 year old daughter,
Simone, traveled through Europe to Rome and presented the glass etching to the Pope in
front of a crowd at the Vatican on June 20, 2001.
"It was a long journey to Rome, travelling without a guide, except for the fax that
helped my daughter and I get a special invitation to see the Pope."
The artist will be selling a limited edition of the glass etching print framed and will be
signed by James August Warsing Jr. of "The Pope To Rome." Included will be
authenticity papers as well as a copy of the letter from the Vatican expressing his
appreciation for the glass etching that was given to him.
In each state 1001 of these limited editions will be sold for $45.00. For each print sold
by any church the artist will donate $5.00.
