Memorial Mosaic Easter Window

On April 18, 1521, Martin Luther went to defend his religious views at the Diet of Worms, before an assembly of German princes, the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, and the papal representative, Cardinal Aleander. Luther was asked to recant his heretical views but refused, saying: "Here I stand, I cannot do otherwise. God help me, Amen". Following the Diet, Luther was excommunicated by the Roman Church and placed under the ban of the Holy Roman Empire. A torch is the symbol at the top of the window.
