The Eighteenth
Sunday after Pentecost
Selected
Readings
Most gracious and loving God, bless all marriages and families in their
work and in their companionship; in their sleeping and in their waking; in
their joys and in their sorrows; in their life and in their death.
Prayers for Marriage and
Family
Although the world is full of suffering,
it is also full of overcoming suffering.
H. Keller
Luther Quote of the Day
For the love among Christians should be the same kind of love as that
of every member of the body for every other one, as St. Paul says, each one
accepting the faults of the other, sympathizing with them, bearing and removing
them, and doing everything possible to help him. Hence the doctrine of the forgiveness of sins is the most
important of all, both for us personally and for our relations with
others.
Today at Muhlenberg
Pr. Dave
Preaching in NY
Pr. Dave is preaching this morning at St. John’s
Lutheran Church in Lindenhurst, NY. Pr.
Dave served this congregation as interim pastor during the time of the tragic
attacks on the World Trade Center. He
has been invited to preach during the congregation’s marking of its 150th
anniversary.
Welcome Kathleen Haines
Guest Preacher this Morning
Please welcome The Rev.
Kathleen Haines, Campus Pastor of Lutheran Presbyterian Campus Ministry, as our
guest preacher this morning! May God
bless Kathleen and our ministry together with the students at area colleges.
Diamond Jubilee
Dinner
The annual Diamond Jubilee celebration luncheon for members 75
years+ and their spouse and/or family will be held TODAY at 12:15 p.m.
Gathering Names of
Saints
We are collecting the names of the saints of
Muhlenberg—persons who have enriched the spiritual life of church members,
regardless of where and when they lived.
For All Saints Sunday, we will add charter members and pastors of
Muhlenberg. In the back of the church
is a basket of red and white paper links.
Write the name(s) of saint(s) and place them in the basket
provided. The links will be connected
to crosses as a symbol of how our saints connect us to our faith and decorate
the nave during the month of November.
