The Twenty-Third Sunday after Pentecost

Selected Readings

If you have much, give of your wealth.

If you have little, give of your heart.

–– Arab proverb

EDITOR'S NOTE:

But that isn't really adequate.

Rich or poor, God wants our hearts.

We must not only give what we have;

we must also give what we are.

–– Desire Joseph Mercier

Luther Quote of the Day

I have held many things in my hands, and I have lost them all; but whatever I have placed in God's hands, that I still possess.

A New Light is Shining

2007 VISION GOALS

“Where there is no vision, the people perish” Proverbs 29:18 KJV

See today’s insert to select ideas you believe we should add to our ministries and return the list next Sunday.  The ideas that receive the most votes will be presented at the November 26th Congregational Meeting for approval.  These visions of ministry are beyond the many things we already do at Muhlenberg.

Today at Muhlenberg

New Member Inquiry Classes

We invite visitors and friends to journey with us as we explore what it means to be a Christian, a Lutheran, a follower of Jesus and a member of the Muhlenberg family.  We will meet after worship at 12:15 p.m. for lunch and conversation TODAY.  A daytime retreat will be held on Saturday, November 18.  New Members will be received NEXT Sunday, November 19, and there will be a new member luncheon that day.

Religious Carvings from the Holy Land TODAY in the MAC

Sales support Christians in Bethlehem

After all services today we will host a display of handmade olivewood religious articles from Bethlehem/The Holy Land for purchase, including Nativity sets, crosses, Christmas ornaments, and candleholders.  As a result of conflict and diminished tourism in the Holy Land, these carvings are made by Christians in Bethlehem who rely on this work for their daily bread.  Please welcome Mr. George Ghanem, an indigenous Christian from Bethlehem, who will be with us today.  Mr. Ghanem is supported in this mission work by the VA Synod and the Metro DC Synod.
