The First
Sunday in Lent
Selected
Do you know
that oftentimes a root has split a rock, when suffered to remain in it? Give no lodgment to the seed of evil, seeing that
it will break up your faith.
St. Cyril of
The last
temptation
is the greatest treason:
To do the right deed
for the wrong reason.
T.S. Eliot
Luther Quote of the Day
By all means flee solitude,
for the devil watches and lies in wait
for you most of all
when you are alone.

New
Lenten Liturgy
Today we begin using a new liturgy for the Lenten
Season. In the compilation of this service,
we have used a blend of the familiar from the Lutheran Book of Worship
with some new musical responses from Setting I of the Evangelical Lutheran
Worship. These choices have been an
attempt to use texts to the music and prayers that speak to us specifically of
the themes of the Season. We hope this liturgy
will assist us as we make this journey to our Easter celebration.

First Communion
Class
First Communion class starts today during
the Sunday school hour. We ask that one parent/guardian attend the class with
your child. Traditionally the first communion class is for students in the
fourth grade whose parents/guardians feel that this is the appropriate time for
their child to start in the class. Our
parish policy has been that younger children may commune after parent/guardian
consultation with one of the pastors. Students and their families will commune
together on Palm Sunday, April 1.
