The Day of Pentecost

Selected Readings

Just when we get all settled down, comfortable with present arrangements, pews bolted to the floor, all fixed and immobile, there comes a rush of wind, or a still small voice, a breath of fresh air, tongues of fire and.....the Holy Spirit prevails!

William Willimon

There are those who say, we are human beings who have spiritual experiences.  But, in reality, we are spiritual beings who have human experiences.

            Teilhard de Chardin

Luther Quote of the Day

This is the office and work of the Holy Spirit: to reveal through the Gospel what great and glorious things God has done through Jesus Christ, namely that we are redeemed from sin, death and the devil and taken into the Lord’s grace and protection.

First Reading

Depending upon which service you attend, you may be hearing part of the first reading from Acts in various languages. Thanks to all our multi-lingual readers!

Congratulations, Wendy!

Wendy Arbogast was honored at graduation ceremonies held at Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Tuesday, May 22 for completion of the four year study program of Education for Ministry (EfM).  We extend our best wishes to her for completing this combination of Bible study, history of Christianity, and learning skills in ministry discernment.  As a special addition to her graduation, Pastor Vought blessed Wendy with a confirmation of her faith and discipleship.  All nine fellow students and mentors were especially proud to serve as sponsors.  Way to go, Wendy!
