The Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Selected Readings

This life of ministry, of discipleship, is demanding as we enter what is in effect a new family and set the old family, the old patterns, aside.

William McKinney

How odd it is, then, that we’re here. I mean, in this community of the inadequate, gathered to follow the one whose disciples we do not know how to be. This morning we began our worship with the sign of the cross we are not fit to carry. It doesn’t make sense.

Dr. Elizabeth Hulwiler

Luther Quote of the Day

A religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing.

Ministries NIGHT

Monday Evening – September 10th

Join us as we strengthen our ministries, plan new initiatives, dream new dreams, and serve one another and the wider community!

God’s  ...

Festival Day

Please Note:  All children’s groups from Newborns (the Genesis group) to 10-12 year olds (The Ambassadors A & B Groups) will meet in the Sanctuary for an opening and then go together to the MAC to meet their teacher and their groups.

Blessing Our Teachers

At the beginning of the 9:30 liturgy, we will bless all those faithful servants who serve as teachers for children, youth and adults.  “You have been made servants of God who gave you this task to perform, to fully proclaim the MESSAGE” based on Colossians 1:25.   Thanks be to God for their service.

Second Home News

Second Home Began this Week!

We give thanks for the opening of Second Home, our ministry of providing a safe place, before and after school for the children of our community.  Please welcome Sal Romero and Milcia Rodriguez as Co-Directors of Second Home!  They share office space with Community Resource Center on the first floor of the MAC.  Children are dropped-off and supervised by the Second Home staff in the morning from 6-8 am.  After school, children are cared for in the MAC from 3:00-6:00 pm, when they are picked up by parents.     Please be welcoming and mindful of these children and their families as you enter and leave the parking lot during these hours.

2-Liter Bottles Needed

Second Home needs 2-liter plastic bottles to make terrariums with the children.  Please bring your empty, rinsed bottles and place them in the box in the Narthex.
