The Nineteenth
Sunday after Pentecost
Selected
The gift of God is as it
were a certain living flame kindled in our hearts, which the flesh and the
devil go about to put out: and therefore we as their opponents must labour as
much as we can to foster and keep it burning.
From the Geneva Notes (c. 1599)
We all believe that Jesus came to save
us from sin, but where did we get the idea that he came to save us from
suffering?
John Wesley
Luther Quote
of the Day
It
is a good thing to let prayer be the first business of the morning and the last
at night. Guard yourself carefully against those false, deluding ideas which
tell you, “Wait a little while. I will pray in an hour; first I must attend to
this or that.” Such thoughts get you away from prayer into other affairs which
so hold your attention and involve you that nothing comes of prayer for that
day.

today at 5:00 p.m. in the MAC. (A light

and concerns with other shepherds and leaders and meet new members of the
shepherd ministry.
Gathering Names of
Saints
For
the next three Sundays, we will gather names of the saints—persons living or
deceased—who have been important to you in your life of faith. In the back of the church is a basket of red
and white links and marking pens. We
invite you to take a link and write on it the name of an individual who has
helped you in your spiritual growth. You
may take as many links as you like. The
links will be displayed in the nave beginning on All Saints Sunday and remain
up until the first Sunday in Advent.
This is a wonderful opportunity for us to observe how our Saints link us
together in faith.

Counselor and Muhlenberg member
Music Librarian
Are you looking for a unique ministry here
at MLC? Do you like to work “on your own” and are you good with details? Our
Director of Liturgical Arts is looking for someone to serve in a volunteer
capacity as Music Librarian. The job would entail two or three hours of work
once a week filing music, stamping scores, working with the library database
(input and upkeep). The Librarian would also maintain choral folders,
distributing new music and so on. See
