The Twenty-First Sunday after Pentecost

Selected Readings

God will have us to continue in prayer, not to weary us, but to exercise us; therefore we must fight against impatience so that a long delay does not cause us to quit our praying.

From the Geneva Notes (c. 1599)

This and the following parable warn us against two fatal extremes, with regard to prayer: the former against faintness and weariness, the latter against self confidence.

John Wesley

Luther Quote of the Day

Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers are?

Thrivent Sponsors Fellowship

Join us for fellowship next Sunday at 10:45 where we will honor of our Confirmation Class.  Fellowship time will be sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Chapter 30980.

Today at Muhlenberg

Special Prayer Opportunity

in Worship today

We invite individuals to join us TODAY and on the third Sunday of each month during the distribution of the Eucharist to come into the Caring Corner before or after communing for a brief word of personal prayer.

New Members Classes

“Walking Together by Faith”

Begin TODAY

We invite visitors and friends to journey with us as we explore what it means to be a Christian, a Lutheran, a follower of Jesus and a member of the Muhlenberg family.  We will meet after worship at 12:15 p.m. for lunch and conversation TODAY and NEXT Sunday, October 28.  A daytime retreat will be held on Saturday, November 3.  New Members will be received on All Saints Sunday, November 4, and there will be a new member luncheon that day as well.  Call Pastor Dave for more information (434-3496).

Gathering Names of Saints

Our collection of the names of the saints of Muhlenberg is growing, but it isn’t finished yet.  Today you have another opportunity to commemorate an individual who has helped you in your spiritual growth.  In the back of the church is a basket of red and white links and marking pens.  We invite you to take a link and write on it the name of an individual who is important in your life of faith.  You may take as many links as you like, mark them, and place them in the basket provided.  The links will be displayed in the Nave beginning on All Saints Day and remain until the first Sunday in Advent.
