A premise of scripture is that we are not free and
sovereign. We are servants of one lord or the other.
Bruce
Modahl
...Jesus
says that we need only seven words—those mumbled by the tax collector as he
stood at a distance and stared at the ground: “God, have mercy on me, a
sinner.” The moment we breathe those words and cast our unadorned selves upon
God, we experience His love without conditions or limits.
Daniel
Clendenin
Our churches teach that men cannot be justified before
God by their own strength, merits, or works but are freely justified for
Christ’s sake through faith when they believe that they are received into favor
and that their sins are forgiven on account of Christ, who by his death made
satisfaction for our sins. This faith
God imputes for righteousness in his sight.

Reformation Sunday
Today
we celebrate Luther and all the reformers of the church catholic who proclaimed
the gospel to the church in their day and time.
We also
celebrate our young people as they affirm their baptism at the 11:00
service. Please see today’s insert for a
listing of confirmands and their mentors.

daytime retreat will be held on Saturday, November 3. New Members will be received on All Saints
Sunday, November 4, and there will be a new member luncheon that day as
well. Call Pastor Dave for more

are rehearsing music for November and December. Singers in each section are

communion assistants, assisting ministers and cantors. The seminar is for all
who are currently serving and for anyone who would like to begin serving in one
