The Twenty-fifth Sunday After Pentecost

Selected Readings

Before the Apocalypse comes "apocalypse now," again and again. The end of the world revisits us over and over. Every crisis trembles with the final Crisis. Every ending rehearses the End.

Paul D. Duke

Remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible but in the end, they always fall — think of it, ALWAYS.

Mahatma Gandhi quotes

Luther Quote of the Day

Every man must do two things alone; he must do his own believing and his own dying.

The November 2007 issue of

The Virginia Lutheran

is available in the Narthex.

inclement Weather Policy

This notice is just a reminder to everyone to tune in to the WSVA AM 550 Radio or WHSV Television stations to monitor church closings on Sunday mornings.  We almost never close.  However, if we decide to cancel the 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. worship services, Sunday School will also be cancelled for that morning.  Every attempt will be made to hold the 11:00 a.m. service but it may be cancelled if conditions are too severe.  If the 11:00 a.m. service is cancelled, the 6:30 p.m. service will also be cancelled.
