The Fourth
Sunday in Lent
Selected
And I said to the one who stood
at the gate of the year, “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the
unknown.” And she replied, “Go out into the darkness and put your hand in the
hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”
Millie Louise Haskins,
“God Knows” in Desert, 1908
Those who preach faith as the cessation
of pain, suffering, poverty, restless nights and turbulent days are offering
false comfort.

Luther Quote of the Day
This
life is not godliness, but growth in godliness; not health, but healing; not
being, but becoming; not rest, but exercise. We are not now what we shall be,
but we are on the way; the process is not yet finished, but it has begun; this
is not the goal, but it is road; at present all does not gleam and glitter, but
everything is being purified.
