Worship Assistant Sign-Up

The sign-up sheet for Worship Assistants for June (greeters, ushers, communion assistants, etc.) is posted in the hallway across from the office. Please sign up for the ministry of your choice. (8:00, 9:30, or 11:00)! This will help to reduce the amount of calling that the schedulers have to do.

Welcome New Members

Please welcome our brothers and sisters in Christ who join the family of God at Muhlenberg by affirming their baptism with us today at the 11 o’clock worship service.  We give thanks to God for their presence in our fellowship and pray that together we will build up this Body of Christ and serve the Lord!  Look for a complete listing of new members in next week’s issue of The Chimes.

Food Pantry Donations Today & Lay Communion Ministers Serving our Shut-ins

Today we receive non-perishable food donations for area food pantries.  Immediately after the Gospel reading, the children will be invited to help collect the food and place it in front of the altar table.  Lay Communion Ministers will be blessed and sent forth this morning.

 

 

Shepherd Workshop

Mother’s day Breakfast

Attention Mothers and all women who have nurtured us in faith!  You are invited to a breakfast in your honor next Sunday, May 11 at 9:30 a.m. in the MAC.

 

This Week at Muhlenberg

Joint Meeting   

Ruth Sigmon Circle and the Mary/Martha Group will meet Monday, May 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the room off the church kitchen.  Mary/Martha to bring desserts; Ruth Sigmon to bring salads.  Joan Strickler will be the guest speaker.

 

 

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Meets Thursday, May 8 at 11:45 a.m. in the Campus Room.  Contact Barbara Werner (433-3912) or Jackie Wells (434-6283).

 

 

Augsburg Choir

The Augsburg Choir from Augsburg College in Minneapolis will perform an evening concert at Muhlenberg on Thursday, May 8 at 7 p.m.  Host families are needed to accommodate the sixty singers that night.  Besides enjoying fellowship with these young people, the host family will provide an after-concert snack, overnight lodging on the 8th, and breakfast. Sign-up sheets are posted in the hallway across from the church office.

 

 

Go-Go Lunch

Walking tour of New Market and lunch at Shenvalee on Thursday, May 8.  We will leave Muhlenberg at 9:45 a.m.  Call Sandy Brzozowski (434-0354) for information.

 

 

Relay for Life

Participants for the Relay for Life this Friday, May 9, please come to the fairgrounds by 6:00 p.m. for Opening Ceremonies (or earlier to help set up our campsite).  Everyone is invited to come out and join the team for fun and fellowship.

Fellowship Time …

…Every Sunday morning, 10:35-10:55 in the MAC.  The hosts for TODAY are the Eagles and Doves children’s Faith Formation groups.  The host for next Sunday, May 11 is the Senior High Faith Formation group.

 

 

Alpha Teens

We will meet TODAY at 12:15 p.m. downstairs in Wayland Hall for lunch and then go on a hike.  Please wear clothes and foot wear appropriate for hiking.

 

 

JCrew

We will meet TODAY in the MAC at 12:15 p.m.  Please bring money for lunch.  We will go to Burger King for lunch and then travel to the “Labyrinth” at JMU’s Arboretum.

 

 

 Attention “Campus Room” Adult Formation Group

TODAY we will be starting a series from The Lutheran magazine titled “Facing Hunger.”  We invite anyone interested in this global problem to come and join us.

 

Muhlenberg Teen Players

Young Adult Convocation

All young adults ages 18-25 are invited to attend the Young Adult Convocation to be held at Roanoke College during the Virginia Synod, ELCA Assembly.  This event offers an opportunity learn about the Synod and issues facing the church beyond their congregations and contribute your voice to the conversations surrounding these ministries.  Registration forms are available from Diane Bayer.
